Shift: Drink Less Alcohol is designed to help you plan lighter weeknights, pause before your usual first-drink window, and choose your next step with more intention.
Shift is a self-guided mindful-drinking and habit-support app. It is not medical care, therapy, detox support, addiction treatment, diagnosis, withdrawal support, recovery support, or emergency support.

Information Stored On Your Device
Shift does not require an account or login.
To make the app work, Shift stores app state on your device. This may include:
- setup answers, such as your usual weeknight drinking window, common trigger, desired outcome, and reset length
- reset plans and reminder preferences
- reset sessions, including session timing, selected reset action, urge ratings if you choose to enter them, decision outcome, and reflection answers
- local progress summaries and next-morning review inputs
- local app access and paywall state needed to route the app experience
This information may relate to alcohol use or mindful-drinking habits. It is saved locally on your device unless Shift explicitly says otherwise in the app or in an updated privacy policy.
Data Collection And Sharing
The current App Store version of Shift does not send your setup answers, reset history, urge ratings, reflection answers, progress, or next-morning review information to a Shift server.
Shift does not sell your data. Shift does not include ads, advertising tracking, ad attribution SDKs, account registration, backend sync, cloud sync, social features, public profiles, user-generated content, or unrestricted web browsing.
Analytics And Crash Reporting
The current App Store version of Shift does not include an external analytics SDK or a developer-operated crash reporting SDK.
Production analytics in the app is disabled. Debug builds used during development may log approved event names to the local development console for simulator verification, but those debug logs are not part of the App Store build and are not transmitted by the app.
Apple may provide developers with App Store, TestFlight, subscription, purchase, and diagnostic information through Apple systems according to your Apple settings and Apple's policies. Shift does not use a separate analytics or crash reporting service.
Notifications
If you enable reset nudges, Shift asks iOS for notification permission so the app can schedule local reminders near your chosen weeknight window.
Reset nudges are optional. You can turn them off in the app or in iOS Settings. Shift does not use notification permission for advertising or tracking.
Subscriptions And Purchases
If Shift offers subscriptions, purchases, trials, cancellations, refunds, and subscription management are handled by Apple through StoreKit and your App Store account.
Shift may read subscription status from StoreKit to determine whether trial or subscribed access is active. Shift does not collect payment card details.
Retention, Deletion, And Reset
Local app data stays on your device until you delete the app, reset app state through a feature the app provides, or iOS removes the app and its data.
Deleting Shift from your device deletes the app's local stored state from that device. If you use Apple purchase or subscription features, Apple may retain purchase and subscription records according to Apple's policies.
